. The first day of fall is around the corner and that week is National Fall Prevention Awareness Week. This is something that is very important to our staff, as falls from dizziness or poor balance can cause serious, and even life-threatening injuries. When dealing with dizziness or imbalance, keep in mind that early intervention is key. Falling is not an inevitable result of aging, and there are steps to take to improve balance and decrease chances of falling.
This workshop is presented by Carrie Rampy, PT/MPT and is designed to raise participants' fall prevention knowledge and awareness, introduce steps they can take to reduce falls, improve their health and well-being, and provide referrals and resources.
Rampy has been a practicing physical therapist with Southern Therapy Services, Inc. for 16 years. She earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Rampy has also completed a three-part, advanced level certification in Balance & Vestibular Rehabilitation from FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers and treats a broad spectrum of patients including fall risk seniors, post-surgical patients, Parkinson's patients, vertigo patients, and more.
